Microsoft has claimed both another month of strong sales in the US and another month of console market leadership.
Following NPD’s January report, the platform holder released a statement confirming Xbox 360 hardware sales of 381k units – that’s up 15 per cent or 48k units year-on-year.
Microsoft adds that their machine was the only open to enjoy increased sales compared to January 2010.
Total retail spend on Xbox 360 in the period reached $551m making it the best selling platform for the tenth month on the trot, the company claims.
"Some lingering supply constraints coupled with high consumer demand led to continued pockets of shortages at retail," a statement added. "Microsoft anticipates this trend to improve through February, but will continue to work with retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments."
