Phil Harrison will give first public address as Xbox exec at LGC

Phil Harrison will give his first public address as an Xbox exec at next month’s London Games Conference.

He will give the opening keynote at the November 21st event.

Harrison joins a roster that already includes Twitter, Google, Electronic Arts, Sega, Disney, Yogscast and other key experts on digital games discovery and distribution.

Harrison took a role overseeing Microsoft games and studios in Europe earlier this year.

Ascorporate VP of Microsoft EMEA’s Interactive Entertainment Business unit, Harrison has a key role covering Xbox, Xbox Live, mobile and more.

He is best-known for a defining role at PlayStation. After 16 years at Sony he immersed himself in new business models and technologies, particularly in mobile and social.

At LGC, he will discuss ‘Building the future of entertainment’. His talk will take cues from the growth of 360 and introduction of games on Windows 8 to ask: "What opportunities will a new platform and a huge new audience mean for gamers, developers and distributors? What kind of studios, IP and delivery mechanisms will we see as the old world changes and the very genre of ‘gaming’ is forever redefined?"

London Games Conference takes place at One Wimpole Street, and is a focused afternoon/evening series of talks followed by dinner and networking.

Earlier this week Sean Decker, EA’s free to play boss, was announced as another keynote speaker at the event.
