PlayStation Phone exposed

The most detailed look at the PlayStation Phone yet has been posted online.

Engadget reports that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU and a Snapdragon QSD8255 1GHz CPU, which is the same as is seen in the HTC Desire HD.

The four inch screen has a resolution of 854×480. There’s also a 1,500mAh battery and 5MP autofocus camera, two microphones, 512MB of RAM, MicroSD slot and MicroUSB port. In raw tech terms it’s way ahead of the PSP.

The game launching software itself is apparently called ‘PlayStation Pocket’.

Of course, the information we’re still lacking concerns the software. It’s looking increasingly like this device is a Sony Ericsson project and quite unrelated to the PSP.

At a guess, the twin touch analogue stick controls point to emulation functionality of some kind – most likely for PSOne, particularly as Sony already has plenty of PSOne roms available on PSN. However, PS2 compatibility can’t be ruled out.
