PS Plus ‘massively inflated’ Thomas Was Alone audience, says creator

Mike Bithell, developer of the award-winning indie game Thomas Was Alone, has shared on his positive experience with Playstation Plus – saying player uptake has been amazing” since the game’s participation in Sony’s program.

Speaking with Joystiq, Bithell revealed the game sold really well” since launching in April.

Playstation Plus was a particular boon, as the game picked up more players through its inclusion in Plus than any other platform or promotion thus far.

That’s exciting," Bithell said, "Because that’s a whole bunch of cool players who are really into their games – that’s why they have PS Plus – who know who the hell I am now."

"As someone who’s making the difficult second album, I need as many people onside, and knowing what Thomas Was Alone is, and maybe even knowing who I am, so it means something when the trailer comes out and it says ‘From the creator of Thomas Was Alone.’ And that’s what PS Plus was awesome for. It just massively inflated my audience beyond what a normal esoteric indie platformer would have, which is great."

Bithell added that he plans to take the lid off that second album, what he’s calling ‘Project 2,’ in the coming months.
