Rainbow Six Siege beta postponed days before launch

The open beta for the new Rainbow Six has been delayed due to technical problems.

Rainbow Six Siege was granted a lengthy closed beta period, which was extended multiple times across September and October.

A beta open to all PS4, Xbox One or PC users was planned to go live this week, on November 25th, but has been suddenly pulled.

Ubisoft explained in a forum update that matchmaking problems had led to the beta remaining closed for the time being.

"We’re currently seeing issues with matchmaking times and disconnection on all platforms," it said.

"As such, we’re postponing the open beta until a later time and keeping the game under closed beta status. We apologise for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements."

But it will have to move quickly – Siege is set for release next Tuesday, December 1st.

Despite the short time frame, Ubisoft dismissed worries over day one troubles.

"We are confident the game will work as intended since the known issue will be fixed soon. Therefore the launch will not be impacted by this issue.”
