Sony has finally confirmed a release date for the PlayStation Vita in Japan.
The unit will launch on December 17th, barely a week before Christmas.
The standard wi-fi model will retail for ¥24,980 and the higher-spec 3D unit will cost ¥29,980 (£248). Those going for the latter unit will be able to buy 20 hours of pre-paid over-the-air data time for ¥980 (£8) or 100 hours for ¥4,980 (£40). 100 hours are included free with the console.
Consumers will be able to start pre-ordering the device from October 15th.
The industry is still waiting on the European and American release dates, which could yet see an arrival as early as Q1 2012.
