It’s got to be a first person shooter. But a contemporary war game? Multiplayer only? The long-rumoured sci-fi shooter? What form Jason West and Vince Zampella’s first game under the guise of Respawn Entertainment will take is anyone’s guess, but you can be sure it’ll be big.
Speaking to the LA Times, Jason West has promised that Respawn’s debut offering will be of huge summer blockbuster scale”.
This is a total reset,” Zampella then said of the surprise news. We’re starting again from ground zero. It’s daunting and exciting.”
And of the studio’s assertion that it will retain complete ownership and control of its IP, he added: We have learned the hard way that the best way to ensure the integrity and quality of your work and make sure the fans get what they deserve is to own the intellectual property.”
West went on to explain that he expected” the first game to compete directly with Call of Duty in the military action genre, and that he would consider turning their games into films, comic books and other media.
