Rumours point to mass layoffs at THQ

Online chatter pointing to an impending announcement of significant layoffs at THQ is quickly gathering pace.

Talk intensified last night after analyst Kevin Dent claimed that the publisher would soon be announcing 170+ layoffs spread across its various operations.

Note, though, that Dent was also the source of claims that THQ was planning to scrap its 2014 software portfolio – rumours that were flatly denied.

Cuts were recently confirmed at THQ’s Australian and Japanese operations. AndVG247sources, meanwhile, say that the UK offices will be badly affected by the losses.

And it appears that THQ’s VP of technology Mark DeLoura has already left his post.

Just yesterday the publisher was threatened with delisting from the Nasdaq stock exchange if it does not successfully boost its share price above $1 – that’s the minimum required for a Nasdaq listing.
