Sci-fi horror SOMA heading to PS4, PC in September

Horror-focused indie studio Frictional Games has announced its upcoming sci-fi release SOMA will arrive this September.

The game has been in development at the studio for nearly five years, and will be Frictional’s first release since its hit Amnesia: The Dark Descent in 2010 (its 2013 sequel A Machine for Pigs was produced by Frictional, but developed by The Chinese Room).

Not too much is known about the game, but the announcement post on Frictional’s blog notes that the protagonist has an established past, knows who he is, but isn’t sure about the situation he finds himself in.

SOMA launches September 12th for PC and PlayStation 4 platforms. Here’s the accompanying video, which packs more than 12 minutes of gameplay footage:
