Single-player ACIV: Black Flag features locked behind Online Pass

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag locks away one of its single player features to those who have not registered an Online Pass.

Ubisoft is one of the last remaining publishers to stick with the Online Pass system. ACIV sticks with the tried and tested method of requiring a code before users are able to access the multiplayer.

However, Eurogamer reports that the resource management mini-game – the mechanic for which was introduced in AC: Brotherhood – is also not available to those who do not register.

The consequences of this, aside from missing out on that bit of gameplay, are that players are prevented from accessing a potentially lucrative in-game revenue stream.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be released on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Wii U on November 22nd, following its roll-out on Xbox 360 and PS3 yesterday.
