Sony says Grand Theft Auto V PSN download problem fixed but performance concerns remain

The problem that prevented some PS3 owners installing the digital version of Grand Theft Auto V has been resolved, Sony says.

Some users had, having sometimes waited some considerable time to download the 18GB file, found themselves unable to install the game due to an error.

That has now been fixed, a Sony rep has claimed on the forums.

For those of you experiencing error code 80029564 when downloading or installing GTA V please accept our apologies,” a statement read. This is been worked on as a high priority and we hope to have it resolved this afternoon.

Please delete any GTA content you have already downloaded and then re-download after 4pm today. This should resolve the 80029564 error. I will let you know if there are any changes to this progress and keep you all informed.”

Users of the forum, however, seem to be suggesting that the issue persists, although the anecdotal evidence at least suggests the situation has improved.

Elsewhere there are mixed messages about the technical performance of the successfully installed game.

Many remain concerned that the digital version will fall foul of the shortcomings found in the fully-installed Xbox 360 game, although again feedback seems mixed.

A story on GamingBolt and this Reddit thread both suggest that the problems do present themselves in the PSN build, but plenty of users are reporting the opposite.

It should be added that the author of this piece has been playing the PSN version of the game and has not noticed a single problem in-game.
