Splinter Cell remakes confirmed

Ubisoft has at last confirmed that it is to release HD versions of its last gen Splinter Cell trilogy, which was first rumoured in September.

IGN reports that the confirmation came from CEO Yves Guillemot as part of the publisher’s recent earnings call. Details concerning platforms or the release date have not been confirmed.

Presumably the SKU will include the original Splinter Cell and its two sequels Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory, all of which were released on Xbox.

Ubisoft will this Friday release a single SKU containing its three last gen Prince of Persia games – Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time and The Warrior Within. It’s a PS3 exclusive and will retail for 29.99.

Interestingly, in the US the games will be available either as a bundle or an individual downloads via PSN.

Whether the new Splinter Cell Trilogy will also be a PS3 exclusive remains to be seen. This year’s new Splinter Cell title, Conviction, was an Xbox 360 and PC exclusive. And the publisher has previously suggested that the series would be Xbox only until further notice”.
