Square Enix game net sales double year-on-year

Japanese publishing giant Square Enix has revealed that net sales from its games business shot up 46 per cent over the last year.

This news comes as part of the company’s financial report for the nine months ending December 2015.

The entire company saw a 28.5 per cent jump in revenue for that period, with the firm generating 152.8bn over this period.

Of Square’s total net sales,110.1bn was the result of its Digital Entertainment (games) division. This is a 46 per cent year-on-year jump in net sales for Square’s games business.

Square Enix says that mobile and PC games still continue to show strong performance, while console titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 3 made a solid” start.

The Japanese publisher also called out its MMO titles like Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X as sustaining strong sales.

Operating income also rose to 23.8bn – a 60.5 per cent leap.

The the firm is also predicating it will generate between 200bn and 220bn.
