Star Wars F2P shooter reporting in

Disney has announced its latest Star Wars game – a free-to-play space combat title by the name of Attack Squadrons.

The title sees players duking it out in battles with up to 16 players. There are three modes of play: Free For All, Team Dogfight and Base Defense. Gamers can also team up in communities.

Fans have a number of spaceships from the series to play with. These are all customisable, which probably explains the strangely coloured X-Wings and TIE fighters in the trailer. The official website also promises new ships, items and upgrades each month.

The game is being developed by new Seattle-based studio Area 52 Games. Players can sign up for the beta, which launches in the New Year, on the official website.
