Steam passes 10m concurrent users

Steam hosted more than ten million concurrent users for the first time in its history yesterday.

Valve’s digital store smashed its previous record of 9.5m set just last month. The rush of new users has been spurred on by the latest summer sale on the marketplace that has seen deep price cuts across Steam’s library of games.

The most played games are still the usual titles of late – Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Clicker Heroes and new release ARK: Survival Evolved.

Sales have also helped propel Civilization V and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the top ten most played games.
