Street Fighter IV confirmed for consoles and PC

It might not be a huge surprise, but Capcom’s confirmation that its upcoming arcade title Street Fighter IV will also be coming to consoles and PC is certainly welcome news.

A release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC is anticipated later this year, though no firm street date has yet been announced.

SFIV packs some graphical oomph, mixing colourful next-gen 3D visuals with the series’ traditional 2D fighting mechanic. Characters confirmed to make an appearance so far include fan favourites Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, M Bison and Guile. A number of new faces have also been confirmed, including Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte and Rufus.

The gameplay will also see a host of enhancements, with a new range of moves including Focus Attacks, Super Combos and the Ultra Combo system.

Capcom’s Street Fighter series has to date sold over 25 million copies, spread across 59 different iterations. The best selling of those is 16-bit classic Street Fighter II Turbo, though other successful outing include Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Street Fighter III: Third Impact.
