Take-Two acquires IP rights to Kerbal Space Program

Take-Two has acquired the IP rights to Squad’s physics-based space sim game Kerbal Space Program, the publisher has announced. The title, which was originally released on Steam in April 2015, has sold over 2m copies so far, and received a PS4 and Xbox One port in July last year.

The current team at Squad will continue to support the title as well as develop its ongoing updates and expansions, says Take-Two. This includes the previously announced Making History Expansion, which is due to launch for PC later this year. This will add new content to the base game, including the Mission Builder pack that lets players create and edit missions that can be shared with the community, and the History Pack, which lets players relive historical space flight missions with a classic Kerbal twist.

We have been impressed withKerbal Space Programsince its launch, and we are committed to grow this unique experience while continuing to support its passionate community,” saidMichael Worosz, SVP, head of corporate development and independent publishingat Take-Two.

We viewKerbal Space Programas a new, long-term franchise that adds a well-respected and beloved IP to Take-Two’s portfolio as we continue to explore opportunities across the independent development landscape.”
