The five episodes that comprise the first season of The Walking Dead will be released on disc at retail, developer Telltale has announced.
To date the games have been available to download individually for around £4 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Alternatively, the £15.99 season pass grants users all five episodes, the first two of which are already available.
And as if that weren’t enough, Polygon reports that the studio has confirmed that a second season of games is already planned.
"We believe there is no better company than Telltale to bring complex narrative IP to interactive entertainment," Telltale’s senior VP of marketing Steve Allison stated.
"Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7m episodes to consumers in just our first eight weeks with no signs of slowing down. We have three more episodes to go with Episode 3 targeted for August.
"Following the digital release of our fifth episode we will also be coming to North American retail shortly thereafter and this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do."
Activision announced overnight that it is planning a first person shooter based in the Walking Dead universe.
