Theo Walcott ‘trains’ on FIFA and PES

‘England wonderboy Theo Walcott owes his Three Lions success to footie computer games.’

That’s according to the Daily Star, which today reports that the England star practises his skills on FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer when on tour with the national side – and that both games have improved his ability on the pitch.

That would make Walcott a naughty boy according to previous reports, which suggest England manager Fabio Capello is no fan of video games.

Terry, 27, revealed that Walcott only hit the back of the net for his country after honing his skills on consoles – and that the games could even help Walcott triumph in England’s game against Belarus tonight.

The Chelsea defender added that the teenager struggled to get used to life in the Three Lions camp until he started bonding with teammates over the games.

Terry said: He’s been a little bit quiet, but we all went through that phase when we got into the England squad. Once you get established you come out of your shell.

We coaxed him out by playing on the computer around the hotel. We got him playing on it with us.

It’s the little things like that which get younger lads out of their shell and it has shown in his performances.”
