THQ sketches out uDraw future

New uDraw games will arrive every 60 to 90 days, complete with marketing support, says THQ.

The next campaign takes place around Easter for the launch of SpongeBob SquigglePants.

uDraw made a dramatic entrance into the Chart-Track Top Ten last week, having missed out on the Top 40 the week before. It is currently placed at No.14.

We couldn’t be more pleased with uDraw. We originally tried to get 1m units out in our fiscal year and we now think we can do 1.7m units,” THQ CEO Brian Farrell told MCV.

The strategy is to re-promote the hardware along with new software every 60 to 90 days. We have just announced this new SpongeBob SquigglePants product. You will see us back re-promoting the device just before Easter across Europe and the US.”

One of the main focuses for THQ is getting uDraw into consumer hands, and the firm has kicked off a ten-week shopping centre tour, which the publisher hopes will reach 3m consumers.

The stands will show off all uDraw software, including uDraw Studio, Pictionary, Doods Big Adventure and SpongeBob (from April 15th), and will tie-up with the World of uDraw Facebook page. The firm will also run a variety of promotional activity and events with retailer GAME.
