Twist promises swift work for UKIE

The new CEO of UKIE says the trade body will push even harder on skills and improving the UK games industry.

Last week the organisation confirmed Dr Jo Twist – departing commissioning editor for education at Channel 4 – will become UKIE chief exec on January 9th.

I originally had a three-year plan for – but you know what, we need to be quicker than that,” she told MCV.UKIE has done excellent work with the Next Gen Skills launch. That’s what helped me decide that I want to be part of the games industry – it’s an area where we can make a huge difference and we have to maintain that momentum.

Another priority is creating the best environment for the industry in this country. I’m interested in finding how we can create more Dundees, and how we can emulate what is happening with TechCity and the Digital Roundabout in Shoreditch.

It’s about time we made sure that all the creative industries are paying attention to us and pulling their socks up a bit – because interactive entertainment has an incredible future.
