Ubisoft officially confirms Assassin's Creed: Rogue; No Creed on Wii U this year

Assassin's Creed: Rogue is now official and coming to PS3 and Xbox 360.

As rumoured yesterday, the game will be released on November 11th. That's two weeks after Assassin's Creed: Unity which is due out on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 28th.

Nintendo fans will be particularly displeased with the lack of a Wii U version. The AC series being one of the few remaining third party brands to have regularly featured on Wii U since its launch in the form of both Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Rogue is developed primarily by Ubisoft Sofia although its Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan and Bucharest studios are all also collaborating.

It takes place in a new North American location in the middle of the 18th century after the Seven Years War. Highlights include the frozen North Atlantic and the Appalachian River Valley and New York. AC:IV's naval gameplay elements make a return.

In a break from the norm players assume the role of a Templar, Shay Patrick, who turns on his fellow assassins after a perceived betrayal.

“We know that there are many Assassin’s Creed fans with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles who want to get their hands on a new Assassin’s Creed game this year,” game director Martin Capel said.

“Assassin’s Creed Rogue completes the North American saga started with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and gives previous generation console owners an exclusive opportunity to experience fan-requested features, such as playing as a Templar.”
