Ubisoft posts huge sales week in UK

Ubisoft says its three games in the Chart-Track All-Formats Top Five is a company record.

Far Cry 3 (No.2), Just Dance 4 (No.4) and Assassin’s Creed III (No.5) has resulted in a major sales week for the publisher in the UK, as the company looks to build on its No.2 position in the UK marketplace.

We are delighted with the way these titles are performing in what has been a pretty tough year at retail” Ubisoft’s UK managing director Rob Cooper told MCV.

This is a fantastic way to move into the all-important Christmas season and I’d like to close the year by thanking all our teams for their hard work in bringing these outstanding games to market.”

It’s been a challenging year for UK games retail, however some publishers have managed to make a success out of a challenged market. EA is comfortably this year’s dominant publisher, while 2K Games has also enjoyed a good year on the back of titles such as Borderlands 2.

Activision has also had a decent year. Despite softer sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and a shorter tail for Modern Warfare 3, the publisher’s Skylanders brand dominated the first half of the year. The toy/game brand generated more money than any other game this year, thanks in large part to the game’s popular figurines.
