Ubisoft Montreal project to mix JRPGs, side-scrollers and the work of Studio Ghibli.
Speaking at a GDC Europe session this morning, Ubisoft’s creative director has given first details of the studios small scale project Child of Light.
During his talk titled ‘Small Projects in AAA Studios: Making of Child of Light’, Patrick Plourde confirmed that the game was being made using the UbiArt Framework engine, and would serve as a "playable poem", reports Videogamer.com.
The game is a side-scroller that hopes to combine the likes of Limbo, JRPGs and Studio Ghibli’s work, and is for Plourde an alternative to his previous work on franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry 3.
Ubioft has a long history of bankrolling or publisher smaller or creatively distinct projects in tandem with its triple-A work, such as Eric Chahi’s recent From Dust.
