Ubisoft will have four VR games out for this Christmas

VR games Eagle Flight, Trackmania Turbo, Werewolves Within and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be Ubisoft’s first VR titles, the publisher has announced.

All three will arrive before Christmas on all major VR devices – Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR.

Ubisoft has always been proud of the fact it is the first to jump into new hardware. It did it with the new consoles, with Playstation Move and Kinect, and it also – quite famously – did it with Wii, a move that resulted in huge sales for the publisher via the likes of Rabbids and Just Dance.

Now, unlike Bethesda last night, Ubisoft isn’t directly porting existing games to VR. It told MCV that it believes you need to build experiences from the ground-up. It also said VR is a far more accessible medium thanks to the reduced need for complex controls – via head-tracking and hand-tracking – and the removal of UI interfaces.

Other VR projects Ubisoft is working on includes a Just Dance VR title.
