UK CHARTS: April 2011

The critical and commercial star of April was unquestionably Portal 2 by VALVE and published by EA.

But perhaps the real success story came from 505 GAMES. The publisher’s Zumba Fitness rose from No.9 in the previous month’s charts to No.2 in April, largely driven by the Wii SKU. The game was the best-selling Wii title last month, knocking Just Dance 2 off its perch.

WARNER BROS also had a great month, its LEGO titles continue to do well, but it was Mortal Kombat that performed the best. The game sold more than Portal 2 on PS3 and was the third biggest game of April across all platforms.

There’s not a huge number of 3DS games in the Top 50, in fact only multi-format releases LEGO Star Wars III and PES 2011 make it. In the individual charts, Pilotwings Resort by the NINTENDO is the console’s new top seller, replacing Super Street Fighter IV 3D.

It may be a quiet time for ACTIVISION but its Call of Duty series is still going strong. Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, World at War and Black Ops are all in the April Top 50.
