UK CHARTS: Call of Duty entrenched at No. 1

Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: World at War stands its ground this week at top of the ChartTrack Top 40.

The World War II shooter holds on despite renewed pressure from EA’s critically adored FIFA ’09, which returns to second place. EA also had the highest new entry of the week, with Need for Speed: Undercover racing into fourth spot.

Other new titles breaking into the Charts this week includes Eidos’ Tomb Raider: Underworld in ninth position and Valve’s Left 4 Dead, in at number 15. Meanwhile, Midway’s Mortal Kombat Vs. DC, Microsoft’s Lips and EA’s Rock Band 2 are surprisingly absent from the Top 40.

It hasn’t been a great week for World of Warcraft either, with Wrath of the Lich King falling from second place to 34th.

However, it’s better news for Nintendo’s Wii range, with Mario Kart Wii (third), Wii Fit (fifth), Wii Play (tenth) and Wii Music (twelfth) all moving up the charts.

The Gfk ChartTrack UK All Formats Top 10 for this week in full:

1. Call of Duty: World at War
2. FIFA ‘09
3. Mario Kart Wii
4. Need for Speed: Undercover
5. Wii Fit
6. Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training
