UK CHARTS: F1 takes pole position

Codemasters has cut short Halo’s stay at the summit of the All Formats Top 40, with F1 2010 racing to No.1.

The game outsold both Halo: Reach (No.2) and Dead Rising 2 (No.3) combined and is the first F1 game to steal a lead at the top of the charts since Sony’s F1 2001 – nine years ago.

Microsoft’s Halo: Reach slips to second position following an 80 per cent dip in sales.

F1 is one of several new games in the Top 40 this week, including Capcom’s Dead Rising at No.3, 2K’s Civilization V in No.4, while Activision’s sixth Guitar Hero – Warriors of Rock – holds sixth position. The new Final Fantasy MMO – XIV – rounds of the new releases in tenth place, although only the collector’s edition was made available.

Holding on in the Top Five is Sony’s Sports Champions, which has seen sales slip just 12 per cent following its launch week.

Here’s the UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 in full (for the week ending September 25th 2010):
