UK CHARTS: Red Dead Redemption claims no.1

Despite reports of widespread shortages and a few niggling issues with some major stockists, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption has claimed no.1 in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 in its first week of release.

It’s one of four new games to swoop into the Top Ten this week, the second highest of which was Disney’s visually marvellous racer Split/Second which claimed number five in its debut week.

At number nine we have the next new entry – Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and then at number ten we have the next – Sony’s PS3 exclusive Modnation Racers.

Elsewhere in the Top Ten, 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa finally relinquishes its grip on the top spot to claim second place, just ahead of Ubisoft’s Just Dance, which climbs one place to third.
Capcom’s Lost Planet falls from third to seventh and Microsoft’s Alan Wake drops six places to eighth position.

Here’s the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top Ten in full (for the week ending May 22nd):
