UK CHARTS: Wii Fit equals Nintendo record

Having claimed the top spot in the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All formats Top 40 yet again this week, Wii Fit has now set a new UK charts record at Nintendo.

The game’s rise to the top also ended the run of successful chart-topping new releases over the last six weeks, which included Street Fighter IV, Killzone 2 and Resident Evil 5.

It’s the tenth time that Wii Fit has claimed top spot in the listings, equalling the achievements of Game Boy title Pokemon Yellow way back in 2000.

Nintendo recently claimed that sales of Wii Fit are not far off the total sales of Sony’s PS3 console, with estimated global shipments of the game nearing the 18m.
