UK game prices at an all-time high

The average price of boxed games in the UK is at its highest point ever.

GfK Chart-Track revealed to MCV that gamers on average spent 29.42 on each game, that’s a huge increase of 3 over 2012.

There’s two main reasons for the increase – a reduction in the number of budget-priced games (particularly on Wii and DS) and more expensive pricing on next-gen games on PS4, Xbox One and Wii U.

Chart-Track added that, based on historic data, the price of new console games do tend to drop after a year of the new machines being out.

This statistic is part of MCV’s extensive 2013 market report, which you can find in this week’s edition of MCV.
