US: Nintendo dominates October hardware sales

With news of

35 per cent growth in the US hardware market in October

causing great cheer across the Atlantic, Nintendo has the greatest reason to celebrate after some hugely impressive sales figures for its hardware.

NPD stats show that the Wii sold 803,000 units in October, with twin-screened cousin the DS shifting an also impressive 491,000.

Microsoft will also celebrating its sales success over rival PS3 – the Xbox 360 shifted 371,000 machines, nearly double the PS3’s sales of 190,000. In fact, the PS3 was also outsold by PSP, which shifted 193,000 machines.

The PS2 maintained its market relevance by selling 136,000 machines.
