US: Nintendo grabs 60 per cent of hardware sales

Leading platform holder Nintendo is understandably quite smug about its strong performance in the North American market in October, with

its hardware victory

being joined by a

strong software sales offering

Combined sales of Wii and DS reached 1.29 million for the month, with Wii shifting 803,210 units and the DS 491,176. This brings lifetime US sales of each machine to 13.35 million and 23.02 million respectively.

The firm’s hardware sales were 25.7 per cent on the same month last year and accounted for a huge 59.3 per cent of the industry’s total hardware sales for the month.

Leading exercise title Wii Fit sold just under half a million copies in October, bringing lifetime US sales to over 2.83 million.
