UTV Indiagames racks up 100 million downloads on Nokia Store

Indian game developer/publisher UTV Indiagames has become the first publisher to reach the 100 million downloads mark on the Nokia Store. The company had surpassed 50 million downloads three months ago.

UTV Indiagames currently boasts of a catalogue of over 300 games and holds licenses to well-known film, sports and entertainment properties. Leading game downloads include Bollywood film tie-in Ra. One Genesis, cricket games such as T20 Fever 2011, Cricket T20 World Championship and DLF IPL (the official game of the Indian Premier League), Mowgli in the Jungle Book, and Aladdin.

While Nokia has been struggling in the smartphone race, the company still holds a sizeable market share in India with its line of feature phones, which account for a majority of the country’s mobile user base.

Nokia, though relatively new in the app store market, has created a significant mark for itself in the segment and has opened up avenues for game development companies worldwide. We hope to continue this amazing partnership with Nokia and create a footprint for the Indian gaming industry globally,” said Vishal Gondal, CEO of UTV Indiagames, reiterating the company’s commitment towards Nokia’s platform.

Indiagames was the only Indian company to make the Develop 100 list of top game developers last year. Its parent company, UTV, was recently acquired by Disney.
