VU swoops for Darkwatch developer

The deal was completed today and means that VU retains the developer’s team of more than 100 development staff as well as the rights to the studio’s IP. No financial terms have been disclosed.

The developer is best known for its recent vampire-western first person shooter Darkwatch, which hit PS2 and Xbox in October 2005, published by Ubisoft.

“Our acquisition of the studio is another major step forward in building the company’s position as a leader in next generation console games,” said VU Games CEO Bruce Hack.

John Rowe, president and CEO of High Moon, added: “We are happy to be part of Vivendi Universal Games, and we believe that the acquisition is a very positive step for the growth of our studio.”
