Warner Bros reveals Mortal Kombat X Worldwide Competitive Program

Three major Mortal Kombat X pro tournaments will take place starting next month with a combined prize pool of $100,000, Warner Bros has announced.

The newly unveiled Mortal Kombat Worldwide Competitive Program will host a series of tournaments kicking off next month, allowing players from around the globe to compete for cash and other prizes.

Starting April 19th, Xbox One players in North America and Europe can participate in the Mortal Kombat X ESL Pro League Tournament’s weekly competitions. 16 finalists will be determined and invited to the tournament’s grand finals held July 11th in Los Angeles.

The Mortal Kombat Cup extends to 17 territories and runs from April through June. Finalists will be invited to the championship round at the Japan Expo in Paris on July 5th. The Fatal 8 Exhibition Tournament also takes place April 11th, tickets are on sale now and will be livestreamed via NetherRealm’s Twitch channel.

NetherRealm Studios is a huge supporter of the pro fighting game scene and to be able to work with ESL on the Pro League Tournament allows us to take the Mortal Kombat X competition beyond what we’ve ever done before,” series co-creator Ed Boon said. We’ve seen some incredible match-ups in the past and we can’t wait to see what this next level of competition brings.”

Those interested in supporting the events can do so by purchasing the Blue Steel Sub-Zero skin, as part of the proceeds will go directly into the respective prize pools of the aforementioned tournaments.
