Wii U "arriving two years late"

Market analysts Wedbush Morgan have claimed that the Wii U is arrving two years late”.

In its latest note to investors, authors Michael Pachter, Edward Woo and Nick McKay observed that Nintendo’s use of Xbox 360 and PS3 footage during its E3 presentation suggests the Wii U will be no more powerful than the current generation of consoles.

We think that Wii U is arriving two years late, given that the other HD consoles already have peripherals for movement,” the firm said.

As Nintendo did not provide any specifics around the new console’s power or pricing (Nintendo used PS3 and Xbox 360 game footage in the Wii U presentation, we are assuming that the Wii U is unlikely to provide greater power than the current HD consoles.

If that is the case, we believe Nintendo has conceded a tremendous first mover advantage to Microsoft and Sony, which launched Kinect and Move control schemes, respectively, in late 2010.”

The analysts also reported they were disappointed” by Nintendo’s announcement that each Wii U console will only support one of its innovative new controllers.
