Wikipad US launch set for next week

Following an eight month delay, the Wikipad is ready for retail.

The completely revamped Android-powered gaming tablet will land on US shelves next Tuesday, June 11th – which just so happens to be the first official day of E3. It will be available at launch at Best Buy, Walmart and TigerDirect.com

The aforementioned delay and subsequent revamp involved taking the original $500 10-inch model down to a $250 7-inch version.

The new model also scraps the original model’s rear camera (though the 2 megapixel camera on the front is still intact), but beyond that the specs are on par with the original.

Detachable controls are still part of the package, and under the hood a quad-core Tegra 3 processor with 12 core Nvidia GPU and "true widescreen" HD screen, HDMI out, and 16GB of storage with a micro SD for an additional 32GB all remain.

Plans for worldwide releases, including UK, for the Wikipad this summer are in motion as well.
