World of Warcraft: Legion sales prove the classic MMO still has it

Having been on the go for over a decade, Blizzard’s pioneering MMO World of Warcraft is still capable of delivering the goods.

The developer has revealed that the game’s latest expansion, Legion, had by its official launch on August 30th sold 3.3m units, matching the previous best expansion in the series and comfortably making the game one of the fastest-selling PC games ever”.

Furthermore, on the back of the launch, WoW enjoyed its highest number of concurrent players since the 2010 launch of the Cataclysm expansion.

It’s been a thrill to see players hunting demons, powering up Artifacts, and freely exploring all the new zones in Legion,” Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime said. We worked hard to make this the best World of Warcraft expansion yet, and we look forward to providing players with even more content as Legion’s epic story unfolds in the months ahead.”
