Yo-Kai Watch TV series confirmed for UK

The Yo-Kai Watch anime series will be broadcast in the UK this spring.

Having spawned what is currently the biggest video game series in Japan, the TV series is coming to Europe courtesy of VIZ Media Europe. A Hasbro toyline will also accompany the series’ arrival.

All 26 episode of the first season, which is co-produced by Yo-Kai Watch game developer Level 5, have been confirmed for broadcast, although it has not yet been revealed on what channel.

The series was first broadcast in the US last year.

The Yo-Kai Watch game series has to date sold over 10m units in Japan, while associated toys and merchandise have racked up sales in excess of 1.5bn in the region. None of the 3DS titles have yet been released in the UK.

Can Yo-Kai Watch be the next Pokemon? That’s the question that the industry keeps asking itself, but we won’t know until the game finally gets a European release, which looks to be on track for 2016.
