Zynga chief creative officer Verdu exits to start new mobile studio

Zynga’s chief creative officer Mike Verdu is on the way out of the social games company to start his own mobile studio.

Verdu spoke with AllThingsD regarding his departure, and specifically how he’s not looking to add to the noise level despite the timing.

"I personally don’t want to add to the noise level," he said. "I think this will be a good thing for me and for Zynga … I’m concerned about how this might be viewed with what else is going on, but it’s not a function of anything else going on at the company."

Verdu described his departure as a way to return to roots and start a new company. He also expects Zynga to invest in what his mobile games studio comes up with.

Still, it is what is is. Another blemish added to a bruising past few months for the firm. Earlier this month, Zynga’s COO John Schappert resigned just days after EA accused the company of talent poaching and game copying.
