Bubble Gum Interactive secures AUD$250’000 in funding

Bubble Gum Interactive (BGI), Sydney-based developer of Little Space Heroes, has announced that it has secured almost AUD$250’000 in government funding.

The developer has been hard at work on creating its ‘virtual universe for kids’ since 2010, and will be launching with a freemium pay scheme in late 2011.

BGI has confirmed that it has received AUD$90’000 from the Screen Australia Innovation Program, which funds initiatives that are attempting to use new platforms or media, and AUD$155’000 from the Digital Media Initiative, which funds commercially oriented projects taking advantage of new digital media forms.

Paul Gray, director of marketing and community at BGI, said: "Securing these grants has ensured Bubble Gum Interactive has the resources and people necessary to create something amazing in Little Space Heroes."

Mike Cowap, development manager for Screen Australia, added: "Bubble Gum Interactive is creating an innovative entertainment service right here in Australia that can compete on the global stage."

BGI has confirmed to MCV Pacific that it intends to apply for additional government grants pertaining to digital platforms in the near future.
