PS4 owners who had pre-ordered the digital version of Square Enix’s Hitman have had their orders cancelled.
Videogamer reports that Sony has told those affected that the publisher has notified us that the configuration of the product… has changed significantly”, that it is cancelling all pre-orders and that a revised pre-order for Hitman will be available on the store soon”.
The PSN pre-order for the game was pulled earlier this week.
The official Hitman Twitter account has assured fans, however, that the game remains on track for its revised March release, and that the disruption is due to it adjusting a few things”.
Could that adjustment be Square ditching the game’s episodic model? Or is it reacting to the negativity that greeted the announcement that while it wanted gamers to pay a large chunk of the full price up front, the rest of the game’s content would not actually arrive until later in the year?
