Dirt Showdown out next year

Codemasters is releasing a new boxed destruction-based entry in its popular Dirt driving franchise in May 2012, titled Dirt Showdown.

The spin-off game mixes the arcade-style extreme sports elements of Dirt 2, the ‘Gymkhana’ stunt events from Dirt 3 and adds in some Destruction Derby-style action, according to GameSpot.

It features eight-player multiplayer, wackier cars, a range of locations from London to San Francisco and in-game ‘Destruction’ arenas.

Dirt Showdown will be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in May. Codemasters tells MCV the title is a spin-off extension in the Dirt series, not Dirt 4 or a sequel to Dirt 3.
