Download-only BloodRayne announced

Majesco has dusted off the BloodRayne series for its first digital-only outing.

2D side-scroller BloodRayne: Betrayal is currently in development for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, according to Eurogamer. It is being developed by Wayforward Technologies and is due to go live this summer.

The game puts players in control of Rayne once more as she is recruited by the vampire hunting Brimstone Society to prevent an evil vampire massacre. It will be the first entry in the series since the 2004 PS2, Xbox and PC title BloodRayne 2.

It’s been a long time since Rayne captivated players with her bold mix of brutality and beauty, and fans have been hounding us to release another BloodRayne instalment,” said Majesco boss Jesse Sutton.

We’re excited to once again partner with the creative and committed team at WayForward to bring Rayne back. BloodRayne: Betrayal delivers the action-packed experience franchise fans have been waiting for in a digital format that’s also accessible for new players unfamiliar with Rayne’s over-the-top, stylised gameplay.”
