Freddy Krueger joins Mortal Kombat roster

Gamers can take control of horror movie icon Freddy Krueger in the latest piece of paid-for Mortal Kombat DLC.

Owners of this year’s Mortal Kombat fighting game on either Xbox 360, PS3 or PC will be able to purchase and download Freddy on August 9th, according to IGN.

The Nightmare on Elm Street star joins other additional characters available to download including Rain, Skarlet and Kenshi. Freddy is likely to cost the same as them – 400 Microsoft Points or 3.19 on PSN.

Krueger features his own set of attacks and fatality finishing moves.

Mortal Kombat was released in the UK in April by Warner Bros. It’s the latest version in the hit fighting franchise which became famous in the ‘90s for its bloody and brutal gameplay. The series has generated 2bn in revenues to date.

The new game was backed by a marketing campaign encompassing TV ads in Champions League football matches, Facebook activity and more.
