iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sell 10m in three days

Apple has revealed that it sold over 10m iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets in their first three days of availability.

The number is a new record for the company, beating the 9m sales of last year’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C across their launch weekend.

The pair went on sale on Friday in a number of territories including the UK, US, Canada, France and Germany, as well as some key Asian markets. They will roll out to 115 countries by the end of the year.

Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn’t be happier,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said. We would like to thank all of our customers for making this our best launch ever, shattering all previous sell-through records by a large margin.

While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.”
