Irrational confirms round of layoffs

Bioshock Infinite developer Irrational Games has suffered a round of layoffs.

A representative confirmed to Kotaku that eight individuals have been let go as part of a streamlining effort for the studio.

"In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of eight employees today," the rep said.

"Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best."

Bioshock Infinite launched on multiple platforms in March, quickly garnering high review scores and chart-topping finishes following release.

Irrational is currently developing the game’s Burial at Sea DLC that brings the Rapture setting from the first two games in the series back into the fray. The studio states that the redundancies won’t affect work on the DLC in any way.
