Out now: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Darksiders 2, Sleeping Dogs

This month’s three big releases are in stores now, and despite a spate of festivals and bank holidays, there haven’t been significant delays.

The console versions of Square Enix’s open-world romp Sleeping Dogs, which was set for release on 17th August, reached retailers on time, but the PC version was delayed slightly. All versions of the game, which started out as True Crime: Hong Kong, are in stores now.

Yesterday was the official release date for Vigil Game’s apocalyptic adventure Dakrsiders 2, and while some retailers still await console stock, the game seems to have made its way to most retailers around India.

Arguably the biggest of the three from an Indian perspective is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which also had an official 21st August release date. And fans weren’t disappointed, as the PC version was in stores on time(console versions are download-only).Some retailers even received it a day earlier, allowing them to deliver to preorder customers on release date.

While there were minor delays, things could have been a lot worse. With Independence Day, Parsi New Year and Id so close together and with a weekend in between, customs and shipping delays could have been a lot worse, as has been witnessed in the past.

The one negative, of course, is the extended delay facing Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Originally set for release on 24th August, the game’s distributor Worldwide CD ROMs informed MCV yesterday that the game’s Indian release would be pushed to mid-September.
