PSN cards heading to North America next year

Following their successful launch in Japan, Sony has confirmed that it will be rolling out PlayStation Network cards early next year in North America.

In the same way that Wii or Xbox 360 owners are able to top up their online credit either through their console’s dashboard or via a card purchased in-store, PSN cards can be used to add to a person’s online account. They can be used in either the PS3’s store or the PSP version currently accessible via PC.

The strategy fits in with Sony’s intentions to radically enhance the range of content available though its online portals early next year.

There is no news yet on a European arrival date for PSN cards.
